You have reported an accident, crime, or incident to the Police Department of which a patrol officer is conducting the initial investigation. The officer will complete either an accident or incident report detailing the events of your case, collect any evidence and talk with any witnesses. The report will then be filed, with copies going to the Investigation Division.
HOW CAN I GET A COPY OF A REPORT?
You may get a copy of any accident or incident report at the Police Department the next business day following the reporting of the incident. There is no cost for police reports.
HOW CAN I GET A COPY OF MY CRIMINAL RECORD?
Appear at the Clerk of Court's Office in Wentworth and provide proper identification, request a copy of your criminal record, and pay any applcable fee.
SUPPOSE I REMEMBER SOMETHING I FORGOT TO TELL THE OFFICER?
If you need to have additional information added to a report, you may call the Police Department at 548-6038 and ask to speak with an officer. The information will be added to the original report.
WILL A DETECTIVE CONTACT ME?
Each case report is reviewed by the Lieutenant who looks for information or evidence that would provide a lead as to who may have committed the crime. If a lead or evidence is found, then an investigator is assigned the case and will contact the victim and conduct an investigation as far as possible into that case. When the victim is contacted will depend on the detective's case load and work schedule. Serious crimes are handled first.
IF MY CASE IS NOT SOLVED QUICKLY WILL IT BE FORGOTTEN ABOUT?
If no leads, evidence or other information is available, then the case is placed in an inactive status. Often inactive cases are cleared at a later date through information developed from active cases. We encourage you to report all criminal violations to the Police Department. If you have a question or additional information about your case that may help us solve it, please contact the Police Department.
HOW CAN I GET MY PROPERTY BACK?

You must have proper identification.
